FILM/TELEVISION: MOVING THE GOAL

HANNAH STORM DIRECTOR

ESPNW HEROICS SERIES

“Moving the Goal” is the story of Kelly Smith, England’s premier women’s soccer star and her previously untold story of her battle with alcoholism. Hannah Storm made her directorial debut with the film, which was part of espnW’s “HERoics,” a series of six documentaries by filmmakers around the world that was part of ESPN’s coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011.

Storm served as director and executive producer of the project, and also hosted the hour-long “HERoics” special, which aired on ESPN and ABC. Storm’s film, “Moving the Goal,” offers Kelly Smith’s exclusive, first person account of her battles with insecurity, depression and alcoholism, and her fight back to become one of the top players in the world. Said Storm, “Kelly silently suffered before our eyes. In the film, she was remarkably frank and forthcoming with her story, giving us unprecedented access to her family, teammates and coaches, and rehabilitation facilities. She is powerfully inspirational and now is poised to lead England into the Women’s World Cup in Germany.
