Brainstormin’ Productions produced a series of first-person video spots of NFL and NBA draft picks for espn.com as part of the Speed Stick Presents: Draft Day campaign. The Draft Day campaign celebrates athletes who “defy the doubt” in overcoming obstacles, using their experiences to propel them into a future as pro athletes. The featured athletes include: University of Miami at Ohio’s Quinten Rollins and USC’s Leonard Williams, who were picked in the 2015 NFL Draft, and college basketball stars Frank Kaminsky of Wisconsin and Jahilil Okafor of Duke, who have promising NBA careers. Each of these athletes tells his own story of facing very personal challenges, and how they have faced their doubts to become even stronger, all within the messaging of the Speed Stick brand.
Leonard Williams — overcoming a lifetime of challenges, from his childhood in Daytona Beach through his college career at USC where he ultimately became one of the nation’s elite defensive linemen.
Quinten Rollins — after three seasons of thriving in college basketball at Miami of Ohio, made a seldom seen switch to football for his final year, earning defensive player of the year.
Frank Kaminsky — before he became the 2015 Collegiate Player of the Year at the University of Wisconsin, Frank Kaminsky overcame many self-doubts during childhood.
Jahlil Okafor — widely regarded as one of the top rookie prospects in the country, Jahlil Okafor has had a lifetime of success on the basketball court despite personal tragedy.
